Synergize Indexing
Use the Synergize Indexing application to index field data and metadata for your documents.

Use this article to set a maximum length for a field in the Indexing application.

Use this article to add new DocTypes in Synergize Desktop and in Synergize Indexing. This action is required after adding new DocTypes in Synergize EMC (Enterprise Management Console). You must add doc types in EMC and then add the new doc types manually to the client applications. If you just want to use the application to index a document, you do not need to modify the client application.

Expand the Windows system tray in your taskbar. Right-click Synergize Desktop and choose Preferences.

In the left pane, click Repository Settings and select the repository you want to update.

Click the Field Selection tab.

Select the In_DocTypeName field and click the green + Add New icon.

In the Allowable Value list, select the document types that you want to make available to other users. In this example, the test and undefined document type values are added to the Field Allowable Values with policynumber.

Click OK

Enter pass in the Password field (or your admin password) and click OK.

To apply the new settings, re-launch Synergize Desktop and allow a few minutes for your new settings to update on all other machines.

Before making any changes, backup the current scenario by copying the .sif file to a different backup location.

In the main menu, click Scenario, Edit Current Scenario.

Click the Fields tab. Under Fields in Form, select In_DocTypeName and click Add.

Select an allowable docType value and click OK.

Repeat these steps to add more document types.

At the top of the window, click Scenario and choose Save from the menu. To close the window, click X Close.

In the Current scenario has been changed; reload scenario from file message box, click Yes to reload the scenario with the new settings.

If you have more than one indexing machine, copy the new scenario to the other machine to apply your new settings.

Use this article to resolve an issue that users might encounter when an invalid Active Directory account is present in a Synergize ACL. Users might receive the following error when attempting a Save To Server operation in Synergize Indexing:
Synergize Indexing: No such user. Contact system administrator. Keep storing documents?

Open the needed scenario.

In the main menu, click Scenario, Edit Current Scenario.

Look for an AD or Windows account with a ? question mark beside it in the Security section of the current scenario.

If found, remove the AD or Windows account from the list.

In Synergize Explorer, click Tools, Preferences.

Check the fat client Synergize Explorer ACL Template for any AD or Windows accounts listed with a ? symbol beside it.

If found remove the AD or Windows user account from the list.

If no such account is found or the error continues when trying to save, verify such an account is not listed in the Synergize EMC ACLs.

After removal, close Synergize Indexing.

Relaunch and attempt to index documents again.

Use this article to resolve the following SCS error that might occur when opening Synergize Indexing on a new workstation. Synergize Indexing scenarios might not load for users who lack privileges to register files.

Run Synergize Indexing and Synergize Explorer as an administrator to register this application in the Windows registry.

If on Citrix Server, log in locally as Admin and run Synergize Explorer and Synergize Indexing as an administrator.

We recommend that the user running Synergize Indexing has Local Admin rights.

Use this article to unlock the designated indexing scenario file on the network. Users might receive the following message if they cannot open a shared indexing scenario file that is still locked:
Cannot open preference file <path to file ending in .sif>
The file needs to be unlocked from the server where it is stored.
