Information Types

In this help there are generally four types of topics, although multiple information types appear in the same article (for example a task typically begins with a short conceptual introduction):

  • Concepts: A concept describes a feature in general ways or introduces prerequisite information that provides context for further reading.

  • Tasks: A task is a series of steps which you can follow to accomplish your goals with the products.

  • Reference: Reference information is often in the form of a list or a complete example. Usually, reference information is designed to be "random access", meaning that you can refer to any particular part of a reference topic, to remind yourself of the way something works.

  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting is a form of information that is like an interview, trying to help you get to the bottom of a problem you're having.
